RACHEL De THAME This plant raised from a seedling by Cliff was kept for 11 years before it flowered at the right time to be shown. Benched for the first time at the Cheadle Auricula Show it was judged best seedling in show, winning the Seedling Cup.
At the presentation of prizes, Cliff was not in the hall. However he was soon located snoozing in his car.

The success was evidently too much for the plant which soon faded away, but happily before it died the first three offsets were produced.
Cliff named the plant 'Rachel De Thame' after the TV presenter, who filmed his auriculas for BBC Gardeners' World.
